i have located the nearest taxi stand to my apartment but have a question about the stands in general. I am taking a wine tour tomorrow and must be to the meeting place on time. Since it's too far to walk, I will be taking a taxi.
My question is - are there usually taxi's waiting at the stands - or is there sometimes a wait for one to appear. If it helps, the taxi stand I plan to use is right by the Duomo.

If there are no taxis waiting - and there is no guarantee there will be - phone 055-4390 or 055-4242 or 055-4798 to summon a radio taxi.

A taxi stand at the Duomo will probably have standing taxis at all times, but why walk far? Why can't you call the numbers above? You can select the English speaking operator too.

You should have no problem getting a taxi at the stand, but you can also call ahead and reserve one if you want to be picked up at your apartment, or just call when you are ready to leave.
