Is it reasonable to take a taxi cab from Positano to Naples airport?
Thanks!
Our hotel in Positano arranged a driver to pick us up at the train station in Naples. Cost = 100 euro. He was standing at the end of the platform where we arrived with a sign with our name on it.
Checked Rick's book and wrote to other drivers recommended, they all seem to charge about the same thing.
Personally, I wouldn't do it any other way. Two reasons: I don't want to haul luggage on and off boats and buses and up hills to my hotel. I didn't want to be searching for a bus stop / ferry landing in Naples especially.
I agree with Terry about lugging bags onto buses, trains, etc, & keeping an eye on same, dealing with rain, etc. I was against spending "all that money" for car service. Then, thru recommendation from Chiara at Mamma Agata's, I linked up with Roberto DiPalma of Amalfi Coast Destination: www.amalficoastdestination.com First he sent one of his drivers to Naples to take me to Sorrento, 65e +tip (it was May, slower tourism time). Roberto drove me Sorrento-Amalfi & Amalfi-Naples Port, about 75e + tip, each trip (again May & special rate courtesy of Chiara, but if you're reasonable with negotation, and mention lady from Arizona, he's very fair). Lovely man, professional, personable, reliable, knowledgeable, speaks perfect English, but we enjoyed chatting in both languages--what fun! Easy to reach; fiance Ines very efficient. Not just my driver--now a good friend. Don't wait for Rick to add Roberto to his list.
try to contact Larus car service or Taxi2airport. They were the most reasonable and the service was great but still price it out if it is worth it to you
Sounds like most of the people posting here have not learned how to pack. I live in Europe for a month with a carry-on roller bag and my Rick Steve's backpack and I am an artist carrying art supplies and finsihed paintings. If I can do it you can too!
If you choose to do laundry... yes
