Taxi service to Monterosso

Hello,
Is there taxi service from La Spezia Centrale to Monterosso. If so, do the taxis wait outside the station or should we be looking for a taxi stand.
If there are taxis would anyone know the approximate fare? We'll be there late September.
Thanks

Unless there are mobility issues, an easier (and far cheaper) option would be to take the regional train from La Spezia Centrale to Monterosso. We connected to one at La Spezia when we took a Frecciarossa from Rome's Termini getting to Cinque Terre. Plus you get a more straightforward path with stunning coastline views upon exiting tunnels, versus twisting overland route with a taxi.

Mobility is not an issue. This is our first visit to the area and from what I've read we'll be visiting at a busy time of year so I thought taking a taxi would be an alternative to crowded trains.

My experience with taxis in La Spezia was outrageous pricing - and was clearly marked on a sign outside the train station. I believe they wanted 40e to go to Porto Venere which is 20 minute trip and Monterosso is much further so I wouldn't trust the suggested 50e pricing on Rome2Rio.

Here is a firm claiming to have NCC - point to point - drivers based in La Spezia. This is not a recommendation just an example.

As everyone suggests the train - or even the ferry - are better ways to go for different reasons but a taxi is probably the most expensive.

Have a great trip,

The trains aren’t always packed. They are packed maybe if there is cruise ship docked in town. If you go early in the morning there will be few people going in that direction.

And no! 60€ is not enough for a taxi to Monterosso. The road is long and tortuous on the Via Aurelia and then on the Provinciale in the interior through the mountains. I’ve done it with my car many years ago (early 1980s) and took me almost one hour on a very curvy and steep road. The La Spezia taxi company below quotes a flat fare of 90€ one way. Compare with 20 minutes and 8€ per person with a train.

One more vote for the train. It will be easier, cheaper and faster. There is a railway along the coast that connects all the towns. But there is no road along the coast so it will be an hours drive on narrow and winding mountain roads.
