Taxi or private transfer Milan Malpensa to Stresa

We are three adults (one senior) and, one 4 yr old needing transportation from Milan airport to our ABNB in Stresa at Lake Maggiore. Does anyone have a transportation company to recommend? Train/bus schedule will take most of day & one of us has some knee issues, so worried the bus/train & walking may be too much. Price estimates $96 is almost the cost of private car $130. We each have carry-on suitcase & a personal item. If the 4 yr old gets tired, one of us will be hauling two suitcases. Just thinking the private transport may be easier? We will pick up a rental car after a few days at Lake Maggiore, on our way back through Milan -then on to other rural cities in Piedmont & Lombard regions.

The AliBus is convenient and it costs 14€ per person one way. Nowadays it must be booked online the day before at the latest. It runs from Apr 1 to Oct 31, but only every 2 hours at 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:00, 18:00, 20:00. The journey is about 1 hr.

Via train there are numerous trains generally requiring a change at Busto Arsizio. The cost is a bit cheaper than the bus at 10.15€ per person one way. The journey is 1h17 min

enter from MALPENSA AEROPORTO T.1 to STRESA.

There is also the possibility of taking a taxi directly from Malpensa to nearby Gallarate, at the train station, and catch the train to Stresa there without needing the longer route via Busto Arsizio. Basically you would intercept the same train from Busto Arsizio to Stresa at Gallarate. The taxi to Gallarate takes about 15 min, it costs over 30€ but 4 people can share the cost. From Gallarate to Stresa the train journey is a quick 34 min ride for 5.25€ per person.

Both buses and trains take you to the Stresa station, from there there might need to be walking required to your AirBnB, and that might be too exacting for someone with knee problems, however don't despair. There are always taxi cabs parked at the train station taxi stand. You can ride one to your apartment.

If you prefer a private car transfer directly from the airport to Stresa the price should be about 120€ or more.

The choice is yours, just know that a private car transfer would be about twice the price as the public transportation option.

Train/bus schedule will take most of day

I wonder what source made you believe this. What did you use for research?

When is your trip?

Thank you all. This is very helpful. I think the bus suggested directly from airport would be best choice for us. Or I could just pick up the rental car when we arrive instead of going back 3days hence on a Sunday to pick up the rental. My research was on-line using Rome2Rio first, then going to websites of either train or bus.

Rome2Rio is a fun tool but not always accurate or complete

Google maps is a better choice
