Taxi option vs train Rome airport to Orvieto after 5pm arrival

What is best option after arriving after 5pm at Rome airport to get to Orvieto? I would prefer direct taxi or shuttle service instead of messing with train that late in the evening. Any suggestions? Thanks.

That is some distance from Rome so I would expect a taxi would be fairly expensive. Contact RomeCabs for a quote. They are more of a private limo service than a taxi company. I am not aware of any shuttle service going to Orvieto. You could check with your hotel for some suggestions.

As Christine said— a transfer will be costly and likely at least €250 for the 90-minute trip. From FCO, the Leonardo da Vinci Airport train takes 50 minutes to get to Rome’s Tiburtina station from where a 75-minute train gets you to Orvieto for €9.

When you get to Orvieto, take a taxi to the historic center. The funicular closes at 8 pm. (at least it used to - haven't checked recently).

It looks like the price is around 265 euro through Daytrip. I've used the company multiple times for transfers and have been very happy with their service.

Even if your flight is on time, 5 pm arrival doesn’t mean that you are ready to go then. Having flown from the west coast many times, I know it’s brutal. I would plan on finding some dinner in the airport or at one of the hotels and crashing for the night. Next morning you can make your way to Orvieto by train.
