We will have been up for more than 36 hours by the time we land in Palermo. Rather than taking the train into the city, has anyone taken a taxi and if so how long a trip, and what the cost would be.
I see by reading RS book on Siciiy there is no mention of a taxi into the city, just bus and train.
We took a taxi from the city to the airport last June, for a morning flight. We ordered it the day before. The cost was about 50Euro, definitely worth it with luggage. I would look for the official taxi stand at the Palermo Airport - can't swear it exists but I'm guessing there is one.
I believe I recall it taking about 45 minutes. Medium (albeit frightening) traffic.
You might ask your Palermo hotel if they can arrange an airport transfer for you, and what the cost would be. There’s nothing better than stepping off the plane after a long flight and seeing a driver holding a sign (or these days, often an iPad) with your name on it — and knowing exactly where to take you.
