Taxi in Milan

We will be taking the Treno Gottardo from Luzern to Milan in August. This train goes to LocRno but I am planning to disembark at Bellinzona and connect there to a train to Milan. The most favorable connection goes to Milano Lambrate station rather than Milano Centrale. Will we have any issues with finding a taxi at this station to tKe us to our hotel near the Duomo? Will it cost significantly more than a taxi from Milano Centrale, or have any other issues?

As we will have luggage we do not want to use the Milan metro for this journey.

Thanks for your help.

Roberto: Are taxis in Italy generally honest? Can we take them with confidence?

My wife is chronically suspicious about taxis, and we always end up walking for long distances rather than taking taxis. Drives (or does not drive) me nuts. I keep telling her we will be taking taxis to go from trains to our place of stay.

Certainly not with the tax man!
Expect to be told their POS machine is not working and therefore they can only accept cash that day.
The fare is determined by the meter, so they can't scam you there. At most they take a slightly longer route to your destination, but it's not usually in their interest. They make more money by taking more clients than by making your trip longer.
The fixed taxi fare from FCO airport to the center of Rome is 50 euro, comprehensive of everything. But i can guarantee you they will ask you more for the luggage supplement they place in the trunk, even though the luggage supplement should be included in the fare.
If you pay cash, don't expect a receipt either, unless you insist on having one.

Roberto, thanks for the taxi information and the apps. I'd wondered if there was a taxi app and also wondered about the taxi drivers.

Lola, thanks for asking the question.
