taxi from Riomaggiore to La Spezia

We need to take a taxi early in the morning from Riomaggiore to La Spezia to catch our train. We have a tight connection and don't want to depend on the train being on time. I was quoted a price of about 50 Euro. Does that sound right?

It is at most a 20 minute drive, so I think that is probably around the right price.

Riomaggiore is 11km from La Spezia. It's 8-10 minutes by train and as Steven says probably no more than 20 minutes by taxi. 50Euros is quite outrageous but, you're the one with the need.

Could you explain why your connection in La Spezia is so special. Which train are you trying to catch? Is this an ICPlus or ES train with reservations that you are trying to catch? If yes, you can change them when you arrive.

The question is - is it worth $65 to make sure you can make a train departure when you can take another train one hour later.

If you are just catching a train out of La Spezia, then as Larry said you need the attitude of " miss one there will be another in about an hour"

If however you need to make a specific train out of La Spezia because it looks like that one will get to somewhere in enough time to catch a plane and the one in an hour won't, you might want to rethink that whole process. Maybe forgo a night in the CT to stay closer to your departure airport.

Ron, is really correct. There was no mention of a flight in the original post but if you are trying to connect to a flight out of Malpensa (for example) that departs at 10:00am or earlier, you won't make it.

Or, are you trying to connect to that nice Eurostar to Rome departing at 6:51am. If yes, you have two tries from Riomaggiore. The first train out will get you to La Spezia Centrale just before 5:30am. If you miss the first train, the second train will get you in at 6:44am. That gives you 7 minutes to change trains assuming the second train is on time.

Thanks for the comments. I do have the train schedules. The issue for us is getting to Termini, taking the metro to Anagnina bus station and catching a bus to Sora. The buses on Sundays are limited but even so the train/metro/bus route would be less travel time than a train from Riomaggiore to Sora. So, we are willing to pay for a taxi just wasn't sure of the cost. Thanks
