Taxi from Naples Airport to our hotel near the archaeological musem

I’m very used to using Uber when traveling. I understand this isn’t an option in Naples. What is the best advice for securing a fair rate taxi to our historic center hotel located near the National Archeology Museum?

Is there an official taxi stand at the airport? If so where? Or is there an official taxi app? Thanks.

There is a stand where the taxis are lined up. A flat rate has been established; it was 50 euros 2 years ago when we last visited. I would confirm that before accepting the ride. How close to the museum are you?

Make sure you go to the official taxi rank. Do not go with anyone offering a taxi outside of that line

50 euros sounds very high-it’s a short ride

All taxis are required to accept credit cards but confirm with driver that their “machine is working”
Hand the driver your hotel address
No tip required

I'm going to Naples in a couple of months, and I booked a car to pick us up at the airport. We're also staying near the historic center. The price is $48, which is pricey for a 7 minute cab ride, but after a 13 hour flight, I want the easiest possible transportation. Pre-booked so they will be waiting for us and know where we're going.

We are staying at the Hotel Piazza Bellini next month (near the MANN museum). The hotel said that a taxi should be about 15/20 euros from the train station.

The flat rate sheet is on this page:

I don't see any way an airport-downtown hotel could get to 50 Euros. It is useful to have the sheet to show to the driver if he tries to overcharge you. Most common attempt would be to try to charge for luggage when luggage is included in a flat rate. This amount of overcharge is not going to ruin your trip. Uber is not the answer to all ills, especially fair treatment of drivers.

FreeNow is the app for official local taxis. Works fine, but you can definitely find a taxi at the airport. Don't worry about it.

We have gone to Naples every year with the exception of the Covid years. We go for the Festival of San Gennaro in September. It's possible that the rate is higher then because of road closures-- or a soccer game. The route is certainly more circuitous. We have used the airport bus, private car, and taxi, and are looking forward to the opening of the new metro line from the airport to the Centrale station next year.

Be sure to have a spritz at Cafe Intra Moenia.

According to Uber, you can use the Uber app in Naples to get a TAXI. Uber says you can request a taxi in Napoli directly from the Uber app. Open the app, enter your pickup and drop-off locations, then select Taxi from the list of ride options. Uber will match you with a licensed taxi driver to assist you with your trip.

Advantages, disadvantages vs. FreeNow?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ll report back what worked best for us.
