Taxi from Bologna Centrale

We have a family of 5 that includes two children and a grandparent and need to get to our hotel near the city center from the main train station. Would we most likely need two cabs or are there larger cabs that would accommodate all 5 of us?

Thanks!

jim,

I vaguely recall different types of taxis at Bologna Centrale, but can't remember if there were any Vans or larger vehicles. You could have a look at the web sites for several taxi firms, such as this one - http://www.cotabo.it/?lang=en . According to the website, their airport shuttle takes a maximum of four people, so I don't know if they offer larger vehicles. You could also have a look at - https://taxibologna.it/en/taxi-bologna-en/ .

Most cars are made to house five people including the driver, but a few ones may hold six or seven. The question is a different one: even if you can move 5 persons + driver in a single car, only a van, and a large one, may hold the full luggage of five persons; often the place for the extra persons is made by converting the trunk. So it would be likely that you will need two cabs.

Here’s a different idea: it is only about a 10 or 15 minute walk from the Bologna train station to the city center. Maybe you could send a couple of people plus your baggage in a taxi, and the others can walk, a nice bit of fresh air after a train ride. Even if you take 2 taxis, how much can it cost for a short taxi ride?
