Taxi FCO to Rome

I saw somewhere that the fixed taxi rate is ending in 2024? Has it ended? Is it still €50?

And we have a family of 5 (kids are teens so no lap-sitters)! Will we need 2 taxis, or are there vehicles that can fit 5? I assume that would cost more than the €50; how much would be reasonable for a group of 5 people?

If you book an airport transfer with any limo service (NCC or Noleggio con Conducente) the price for 5 or 6 adults in a minivan should be 70€ to no more than 90€,
Just Google Airport transfers Rome (or NCC Rome) and check the best deals.

Regarding the taxi they were protesting with the City earlier this year and threatening to end the flat fare of €50 because of the incredible amount of road work currently in Rome which makes it impossible to cover the distance in reasonable time. I don’t know if the flat rate has ended, in any case you can’t fit 5 people in a regular car, you’d need a minivan and even at 50€ per taxi, if you use two, it will be more than a minivan with a limo service.

The taxi rank at FCO will call for a taxi van for you
You just have to be willing to wait a few extra minutes
It’s not an uncommon need

Rates is still 50 euros AFAIK

Thank you , all! This is very helpful.

Roberta da Firenze: Ah! That makes sense about the threats then to drop the flat fare.
EC: I appreciate the recent update that the flat fare is still in effect, and we'll use Uber Black as a back-up.
ChristineH: I hope you're right that even with a party of 5 and a larger taxi it's still €50! That is encouraging and we'll check that out first.
