Taxi cab services in Rome - Chianti or FREENOW?

I have searched this forum for an answer to this question, but haven’t found it — which taxi app is better for Rome - Chiama or FreeNow? (I have a ride arranged to my AirBnB from the airport, so this is just for getting around Rome.) I don’t want to go to the cab lines; I’d like to use an App so I can pay with a credit card.

Also, for some reason, I can’t add my payment method on Chiama, so is it always cash? I believe it’s the “official” app for taxis, whereas FreeNow is a commercial app. So maybe it’s only cash?

I've used freenow, haven't heard of chiama.
It's definitely more convenient if you can add your credit card to the app.

My relatives (in Rome) use the ItTaxi App, which is probably the most popular App, managed by the Italian Taxi Consortium Association (AssoTaxi). It works like Uber or Lyft, but for taxi drivers.

I believe you can get the same ItTaxi service using Uber App now. The traditional Uber (where Uber drivers are regular people who drive their own cars) is not legal in Italy (after a court decision which established that service can be provided only by regular licensed taxi or limo drivers), however Uber has reached a joint operating agreement with ItTaxi therefore you can summon a taxi using either ItTaxi App or Uber App, at least in selected cities like Rome.
