Taxi availability outside Borghese

i have a fairly tight itinerary in a couple of weeks on a Thursday. I have a tour of the Borghese at 1:00 p.m. and a Coliseum tour at 4:00 p.m. I can probably be out of the Borghese by 3:00.

It looks like there is a taxi stand on Via Pinciana just outside the Borghese. Is it likely that there will be cabs waiting or should I be ready to make a phone call to get a cab?

I have the appTaxi app on my phone but don't think I've been able to successfully complete the registration. The app doesn't seem to like the 6-digit code that is emailed to me. I've tried many times, but it never seems to tell me I've registered successfully.

Is there a better Rome taxi app?

I don't know if my experience is usual or not, but in January 2018, friend and I took a taxi to the Borghese and were dropped off at the spot on Via Pinciana closest to the front door of the museum, and then 2 1/2 hours later we waited about 10 minutes there before we were able to flag one down for ourselves. Other people were also waiting for taxis there, and finally our turn came. There isn't a line for people waiting for taxis. It seemed the method was to just spread out and try to grab one. It appears to be a spot where folks are dropped off and others immediately picked up by taxis. Again: don't know if this is standard, but it was my experience. (This was also my experience in 2012.) Oh: And you WILL be out of the Borghese at 3:00 (you are allowed just two hours inside), UNLESS you bag-check something at the check room. It may take a few minutes to reclaim it if there are lots of other people doing the same thing. (And use the restrooms at the Borghese before you go. Although somewhat crowded, they are certainly cleaner and more available than the ones near the Coliseum.)

The standard practice in Rome is to be picked up at a designated taxi stand. However, the stand Am practice is to walk in traffic and wave at any taxi going by. I think the Rome cab drivers have adapted to Am taxi culture. I would still be near if not at a taxi stand.
