Norwegian Cruise Line does not provide a shuttle from Ravenna to Venice city center so I am planning to take the train from Ravenna to Venezia Santa Lucia. Can anyone share how easy it is to get a taxi to the Ravenna train station after disembarking? If I need to reserve a taxi ahead of time, I would appreciate recommendations for taxi companies.

Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, so there are a few things to consider regarding taxis. I'll give you some golden rules that apply in Italy. If taxis don't have a stop, for example, in the place where you are, you have to call them now. I'll send you the number of Radio Taxi Ravenna, which is the official taxi for the city of Ravenna, so you have to book it. You have to tell them where you are. The taxi will pick you up and from there it will take you to the Ravenna train station. What are these rules? When you get in the taxi, you have to ask if they have a fixed rate. If they don't have one, you must necessarily turn on the taximeter, you can't negotiate. The price is not a flea market.
So either they have a fixed rate that is public by law, usually approved by the City Council of the city where you take it, or they go with the taximeter.
So, regarding taxi payment, Italian law requires that the taxi driver is obliged to charge you with credit cards, debit cards, etc. So, maybe you ask him during the booking process that you will pay with cards rather than cash.
To go from the port, Porto Corsini, to the train station there are also buses, there is the line 90 which takes about twenty minutes to arrive. I attach the link to the PDF with all the lines of Ravenna including the ninety and the timetables of the line itself.
Having said that, from the port of Ravenna, if your ship arrives at Porto Corsini, it's about 20 minutes to the train station. The other aspect is that you will then have to take a train to go from Ravenna to Venice Santa Lucia. There are no direct trains. The trains that go from Ravenna to Venice practically all pass through Ferrara, so I should do a change in Ferrara Ravenna Ferrara Venice Santa Lucia the journey takes about three hours so if you then have to return on board the ship because perhaps you are on a cruise and return to Ravenna you have to consider another three hours to return plus or in any case the usual 20 minutes by taxi.
As for train tickets, you can buy them directly from the Trenitalia website which I always attach at the end of everything. If you take regional trains, the ticket is self-validated when the regional train you have decided to take departs at the departure time. If the train combination should include an Intercity train or a high-speed Frecciarossa train, the tickets for these two Intercity and Frecciarossa trains are nominal and do not require any validation because they too, being nominal, are linked, to the train you have decided to take.
The advice I give you is to organize your day Your visit to Venice taking into account the time you need for all these transfers.
So I don't know if you have to return from Venice to Porto Corsini again because you're on a cruise and therefore return to the ship. However, I'd like to add one thing: Ravenna is a wonderful city where there are Byzantine mosaics which are a UNESCO heritage site. It's really worht a visit, Ravenna is the home of mosaics.
