Taxi at Malpensa?

Does the airport have taxis waiting outside or do you have to call and have one sent out to you? We get in late, I think 17:00-19:00(my mom has itinerary), and have to go 8.7 km to our hotel. Anyone have guesstimate on cost of the trip too? Thank you!

All airports in Italy (and probably all Europe) have taxis queued up at designated locations. You just need to find where. There will be signs.

Yes, the taxis are all lined up outside of the baggage claim area however Rick warns in his book about making sure that the taxi has the official seal or logo on the taxi. We used Rome Cabs in '09 to get from the airport to our apartment in Rome and they were great. You might consider booking a reservation with them because then you don't have to discern whether the taxi has the official seal or not, etc. The cost is 50 euros for Rome Cabs & I believe for a regular taxi it's either a flat 45 or 50 euros, so the cost is about the same. I gave Rome Cabs our flight information and they monitored our flight arrival time (which was 5 hours late) & they were standing outside the baggage claim area holding a sign with our last name on it. The driver was very courteous and professional. The car was a mercedes benz and it was very comfortable and air conditioned. Many folks on this forum & others have had similiar positive experiences with Rome Cabs. You don't have to pay ahead of time. Their web site is www.romecabs.com
