Needing to find a private driver/tour guide for day trips out of Taormina. Also lunch and dinner recommendations in Taormina. Thank you!
I always recommend our favourite restaurant in Taormina, on via Bagnoli Croci. Ristorante al Giardino. Family run, good atmosphere, excellent cuisine. The personable owner speaks 5 languages, interacts with the patrons and offers value for money. You know, I am thinking he could recommend a driver/guide, too.
I recommend SICILY LIFE for transfers and tours. They are based in Taormina but cover the whole island. We used them for two transfers.
Restaurants in Taormina:
Nettuno- fabulous seafood, up aa flight of steps from Corso Umberto.
Nero d'Avola- below Corso Umberto, a few roads down.
Ristorante Maffei.
Just off Corsi Umberto.
Great seafood and beautiful setting.
For a casual lunch or snack and the BEST Arancini, etc. in Sicily it's Da Cristina! Via Strabone, 2, 98039. Our Italian chef guide who frequents Taormina, loves this family owned restaurant. Memorable treat in beautiful Taormina!
This was October 2010, but we too used Sicily Life for our transfers to & from Catania airport, and also we took the Godfather tour--to the medieval villages where the movie was filmed in 1972. Fascinating stuff, loved seeing Savoca, Castelmola & Forza d'Agro up the mountain from Taormina, also a side tour to some catacombs near Savoca where the town heads for the last 200 years have been mummified, painted and dressed up. Strange but true.
Rosso Peperoncino for dinner, just off Corso Umberto near the southern Catania gate.
We used private guide Chiara Rozzi. She was awesome. She's knowledgeable but low key and we had a fantastic day with her - left from Taormina and did Catania and Siracusa. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187892-d2339490-r225900857-Taormina_Tourist_Service_Tours-Taormina_Province_of_Messina_Sicily.html
