Can someone give me information on how to get from the train station(Taormina-Giardini) to the center of town in Taormina? We would prefer to use public transportation. Costs and timetable, if possible. Taxi- rate? Thanks.

For what it's worth, if you have a choice of either taking the train OR a bus into Taormina, the bus would be preferable because it drops you right by one of the the gates into the town center. The train drops you below the town, which is less convenient. I cannot imagine that a local bus would be expensive since all it does is go up the hill into town and the distance short (and local buses are very cheap). If you're coming from Catania airport, you can take a bus straight to Taormina (town center) very easily. Where are you coming from exactly? Public transportation is pretty easy, but itbdoes involve a bit of walking. You can take the elevator from near the train station to the bus stop and either take the bus or a taxi. Where are you staying? A taxi from the train station might be simpler. Sorry, I don't know rates but the elevator and bus are a fewof euro. Buses are fairly frequent, as I recall from three years ago.
