Taormina Beach Club

Hi. We are s group of 7 ( 3 16/17 year old girls included). We are on a NCL cruise and we have about 6 hours in the port of Messina. We want to go to a beach club in Taormina where you can pay for chairs, umbrellas, towels. A place that serves food and very important: cocktails! We don’t want to be packed into a tiny area. A little room around the chairs would be nice. I’ve seen quite a few places but would like to hear from someone that has actually been there recently and can suggest the best beach for swimming, sunning that has full service and comfort. We will only be there for about 4 hours so we won’t it all! TIA!

I think you'll get more input on a cruise forum--maybe cruisecritic.com?

I'm not sure you're going to find a full-service beach that's not overcrowded and is as easily accessible from Messina as you need. Europe is a lot more densely populated than the US, and when the sun comes out, an awful lot of sun-starved northern Europeans head south.

The beach we visited in Taormina isn’t all that nice. It is narrow, rocky, and I thought, fairly dirty. Most of it is owned by hotels. The small public portion is full of boats and trash. Although not guests, we used the facilities of Hotel Mazzaro Sea Palace (not its pool) for drinks and the rest room. Check Mendolia Beach Club, in Taormina. The beach looks nicer by it, than the one I was at. There have to be nicer beaches in nearby towns.

For the kind of water's edge "full service and comfort" you want, complete with cocktails and chairs, etc., sounds to me you would be better off lounging by the pool on board your ship. Not crowded either...... you would have it to yourselves.
