Taller luggage on trains/buses and in storage

We plan to bring mostly carry-on size luggage but might bring one larger piece and it is taller and narrower than “normal” large suitcases. Is that likely to be difficult to manage on trains/buses and in luggage storage facilities?

The question is- can you handle the luggage quickly by yourselves, and get your luggage up/ down steps if you can not find the elevator at the train station?
Good luck!

For our long trips (8 weeks) we each use a 24” rolling duffle by Osprey. Haven’t had any problems finding a spot for them but I have seen people with larger pullman-style suitcases, that I am sure are 28” at a minimum, struggle with stairs and storage on trains as well as see their disappointment when all the the larger lockers are already is use by other people with giant cases.

Thanks for the input! I don’t think we would have any trouble with the bag on stairs or getting around (and we have two strapping teenage boys for any heavy lifting :) ). I was more concerned about storage space and how we would manage on trains or public transportation. I think I may exclude that bag from the process, just to be sure.

Again, thanks for the comments!
