We are thinking of having an overnight stay in Talamone on our way from Cinque Terre to Rome... Has anyone ever stayed there? It will be September 23... Any restaurant recommendations? Any other thoughts?
Thanks Julie
My friend and I stayed in Talamone in 2009. We just stumbled upon it on a coastal trip towards Tuscany and we just loved it. It was in April and the first hotel/inn we came upon is where we stopped. They had just opened for the season and, at that time, it was E50 for a single room for each of us. Talamone is a sweet area. The breakfast was very ample with Italian cold cuts, cheeses, croissants, breads, sweets, etc. I can't remember if there were eggs. There is a small little harbor, a fort where you can investigate.
There are a few other inns that may have small restaurants in them or near there. We only stayed over night but did not go out for dinner. A very picturesque place.
Excellent choice. I love the place right next to the Maremma National Park.
Giuseppe Garibaldi liked the place for other reasons and so did Oliver North in the 1980's.
