taking the train from Umbertide to Venice

There is no train service to Umbertide. The closest station is in Arezzo. There is bus service between Arezzo and Citta' di Castello which is 25 km north of Umbertide. See the bus timetables here.

It appears that there is a separate train service that serves Umbertide, per this Umbertide hotel website Here's how they say to get to Umbertide, so just reverse the info: By train Ferrovie dello Stato (Firenze-Roma line), Perugia / Ponte San Giovanni station. Then Ferrovia Centrale Umbria, Sansepolcro-Terni line,
from Perugia / Ponte San Giovanni station to the station in Umbertide. Good luck.

Thanks, MIchael! I used the timetables on the German Rail site rather than the Trenitalia site and it doesn't show a station in Umbertide while Trenitalia does. For reasons unknown, Umbertide is not the only station served by Trenitalia that isn't listed on the usually wonderful German Rail site. There are some stations around Lake Como that are missing, too. Craig, The Trenitalia site only lists the schedule for Regionale trains up to seven days in advance. To get timetables for Umbertide to Venezia Santa Lucia, enter a date witihin the next few days.
