Taking the ferry from Valletta, Malta, to Pozzallo, Sicily in February?

The ferry is running, but will it be miserable? I would need to get from Pozzallo to Siracusa (about two hours) after. I am wondering if I should skip Malta this trip.

A ferry can be miserable or pleasant, depending on weather. But you can definitely save time and money by flying directly from Malta to Catania instead of ferrying.

A flight takes about 45 minutes — the ferry more than twice that. And depending on how far in advance you purchase the flight, it could cost less than a third of the ferry.

For both, you’d still have to transfer to Siracusa but it’s only about an hour from Catania.
