I will be in CT September 12 and 13 (Fri and Sat). I am considering taking the ferry that leaves Monterosso at 5:30 to go to either Riomaggiore or Porto Venere. Here are my questions: How crowded is this specific trip likely to be? Will this be any less crowded than the ones during the middle of the day? I would also appreciate any other tips to make the ride enjoyable. Thank you all in advance.
Hi. Can you give more info about the basis for your question? Are you concerned you won't get on? Won't get a seat? The ferries have large capacity, usually have an upper open deck and a lower covered deck. Obviously better viewing on upper deck, but subject to weather if bad. Even at the most crowded times, you will be able to get on and get a seat on one of the decks.
Hi Bob: Thank you for your prompt reply. My apologies for not making my concerns explicit in my original question. You have already addressed one of them which was if the ferry could get sold out. My second concern is about if the ferry will be so crowded that taking some pictures of the approaching villages or any other features on the coast would be hard. Thanks again.
When last we were in CT the ferry did not run for the three days we were there due to rough seas. It is best to have a Plan B.
Thanks, @dpoweron.
