taking pet to italy

Has anyone had experience taking a pet with them to Italy? i've heard there is an issue with a quarantine requirement.

Are you sure you'd even want to do this? Even presuming that your pet is small enough to transport under the seat in front of you international travel is a lot of stress on a humans mental/physical well being. Unless you are going to be gone for several months leave Fido/Feefie with a friend/relative who will care for them. Oh, and don't be a mooch...insist yes insist, on compensating said friend/relative with babysitting, gardening while their gone, yes, even money. Trust me, Fido et. al. will not particularly enjoy Italy.

Thanks for the info ref taking our dog with us to Italy. As much as we will miss her we are going to leave her with a sitter. Thanks again.

Especially for a short trip, it does not make sense to do so. We are here for four months, but still left our cat with my parents back home. Much easier on everyone. We miss him a lot but know he's happier there! And yes, I would definitely recommend compensating the sitter with money, not offers of gardening while they are gone. (I used to pet-sit for people, and it keeps the relationship better if things are up front like this. After all, they are taking care of one of your prized possessions, it's worth it to pay some $ and make sure it will get good care.) Have a great time in Italy!
