Taking fruit into Italy

Does anyone know if there is any restriction about bringing dried fruit such as apricots or prunes, into Italy in your luggage?

I have no idea what the exact laws are in Italy, but the customs checkpoints at most all European airports are usually unmanned. Thus the chance that you belongings will be searched is almost nil. I would go for it. Bringing food back into the US is another story.....
