I have purchased an advance ticket for the Campania Express to go from Naples to Pompeii this fall. My ticket
shows departing from "Porta Nolana / Garibaldi". These are two separate stations although they are located very close together. The schedule for the Campania Express shows two separate times. My ticket shows the departing the earlier time which corresponds with Porta Nolana according the the schedule. Which station is the rail company expecting me to board from?
I do not think it matters, either will be fine. Porto Nolana may be more convenient if you are coming from somewhere in town, Garibaldi more so if you are in Centrale station.
Curious - what did you pay for those tickets?
Frank, without stepping on James' toes, here are the 2018 rates just in case anyone else is interested (rates are different depending on where you get on and off, or one-way or return) and need the link:
Paul, thank you. I will be coming from Centrale station. Frank, paid 11 eruos, to Pompeii Scarvi, round trip, through the Campania Express website.
Both will work but If you are coming from centrale station then you want Garibaldi. That is in the exact same place as centrale - just go downstairs. Garibaldi is underneath centrale. The stairs are in the main hall, just before you get to the front entrance/exit of the station. So you dont even need to go outside.
I took the circumvesuviana from here, it leaves from the same place as the campania express.
Is it obvious which is the Campania train vs. the circumvesuviana? I assume it will be there exactly at the time it is supposed to be and the numbered train per the schedule. I have seen some posts at another travel forum where it looks like people got on the circumvesuviana instead. Do not want to make that mistake.
