I would like some info on taking a train from Bologna to Rome. (I am flying into Bologna). Thanks for the info!
What kind of information would you like? You can use the trenitalia site to see fares and schedules. There is a schedule change due the first half of June so use a date in April or May to see what you can expect. Other than that you'll need to be more specific for more specific answers. http://www.trenitalia.com/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=ad1ce14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD Donna
If you have to put in a fake date to trenitalia, be sure to use the correct day of the week. Schedules are different on the weekends.
sorry, I should have been more specific. What I wanted to know was, are there just a few trains to Rome, I pulled up trenitalia and only saw 4 times to catch a train in one day. And is it ok to just get my ticket at the station as I am flying in and do not want to "lock in" my time. Thank You.
Hmm. You must be entering something incorrectly into the Trenitalia site, assuming you're not inputting a June date or later (see response above). I input 3/29 and there are scads of trains leaving Bologna for Rome, about one every 20 minutes. And it's absolutely fine to wait until you get to Italy to buy your tickets, with the exception being for a large group that wants to be sure to sit together.
Thanks for your response and you are right there are plenty of trains. I am new to all of this and am grateful for the help.
Looks like Robin has already found out, but on the website, you need to specify what hour you want to leave, or it will only tell you the trains available after the default hour that is already in that slot.
