Taking a tour in venice

Hello! I am planning out our trip next summer, me, husband, boys 9 and 11. We are mostly going it alone, but I was thinking maybe we should be taking some guided tours, in order to get some more information about what we are seeing. I definitely will not to a big group thing - too hard with the kids I think. But I was thinking of doing something like Context venice (they have a kids' lion scavenger hunt), so we can get some firsthand info. It would just be our family, and my understanding is that they can tailor it sort of to your interests, or if the kids need a break we can grab a snack, or whatever. Has anyone done similar tours and what do you think about them? We would only do the one on one day (we have 2.5). I guess I should be asking this for Rome also... Thanks!
Kim
