Switching trains in La Spezia

We have a 5 min window to switch trains in La Spezia. Do we have enough time ?
We are travelling from Florence to Monterosso. Tickets are already purchased.

What kind of train are you connecting to in La Spezia? If it's a regional train like the Cinque Terre express, then don't even worry about it; there are lots of trains now between La Spezia and Monterosso. Just get the next regional train if you happen to miss your connection. Any regional train going from La Spezia to Genoa should stop in Monterosso.

If your connecting train to Monterosso is an IC train? Not sure how it works if you are late and miss your connection.

Consider installing the Trenit app on your smart phone if you have one. Then you can check train delay info and platform info before you even get off the train in La Spezia and know which platform to head to immediately. You can also buy train tickets with the app if need be - I used it numerous times in May, very handy.

If you are looking at the 12:25 Cinque Terre Express, there is another at 12:55 and your Regionale ticket is still valid.

The train is a regional train so we should be fine. Would it be on the same platform or on another?

Probably the same track, but check the train board.

Yes it's the 12:25 train. Good to know that we can catch the 12:55 if we have to. Thank you

In the past, I've had to change platforms a number of times when transferring in La Spezia. As Sam mentioned, you'll have to check the schedule board when you arrive there. Changing platforms often involves going downstairs to the Sottopassagio (tunnel) and then back up, so with a five minute window you'll have to be quick. No big deal if you miss the train, as there will be another along in a few minutes. Just be sure to only use Regionale trains, as that's all your ticket will be valid for.

We also have had to change platforms at the last minute in LaSpezia taking the sottopassagio but not a problem as the trains run regularly to the villages of the C.T.
