Hello, can you swim in the lake at the Sirmione (Lake Garda) beaches? We are hoping so. Is it clean, freezing?

Way back in 2015, the beaches of Sirmione did not look especially appealing to me. With that said, I have read that Lake Garda is the least polluted of the Northern Italian lakes. I wouldn't go there for the swimming - but it should be safe enough.

Hello,
My wife and I visited Sirmione last October. The water level on Lake Garda was extremely low, and the shoreline was 50-100 yards farther out, in places. At the northern tip of Sirmione there was exposed rocky lake bed where the beach used to be. Hopefully the water level has risen since then if you hope to swim. The water is very chilly as it flows down from the mountains.

The water temperature in Sirmione today is 23 C,, approx 74F. It is 69F in Malibu today, for reference.
