Swimming in Italy

I would like to do some lap swimming on my 20 day trip to Italy in October. We will be in Venice, Florence, and Rome.
Help me out...

I used to swim regularly and rarely found hotel pools to be a good option for lap swimming. Rather, public pools usually proved to be a better option.

Your best bet would be to post a question on the tripadvisor.com forums for Venice, Florence, and Rome. Most of the forums have locals who will probably be able to point you to a place. You could also try the site www.gymvisit.com which lists gyms around the world.

The Italian word for a pool is piscina if you want to do a search.

Unfortunately, I haven't been lap swimming in a pool in Italy ... but if you are ever looking for a pool in London or Stockholm, I can help :)

There are usually public pools in the towns and cities. There are a few in Florence, I believe. Maybe there's someone here who's tried them before?
