I'm hoping of all hopes that my mom isn't reading this posting. So, if you are my momquit reading now cause you're going to wreck a surprise. No, really, mom. Listen to your daughter! Ok, have your attention yet? My mom is traveling to Venice soon and I would like some ideas of a gift that she and her travel partners could enjoy while there. They will be traveling on from there, so nothing that they would have to carry. I would love more than anything just to appear there for a day or two myself, but alas, I am not a gabillionaire. Any thoughts? And mom, no, you can't chime in with ideas. :) Happy Traveling!
Is this to be something she can take with her, or something to be delivered to her hotel? One thought is to buy her a vaporetto pass at http://www.veniceconnected.com. About 33 euros for a 72 hour pass, other durations available. Very useful item! You would be given a "PNR" code printed in an email she would turn in at a kiosk in Venice to pick up her pass.
How about something waiting for them in the room? Flowers, wine, snacks, etc... They could enjoy the wine (IF they drink...Coca-Cola isn't 'quite' the same LOL!) on their first/second (!) night and just relax with each other! (I'm passed out on my first night, and it isn't the wine) A great way to start off on their adventure... Contact their hotel... (and keep playing the lottery...) **To Mom - Whaddya think? Good idea or no?
This would only work for her and not her companions, but put some euros in it and aske her to buy a treat ( Italian Cream Cake? Vino?) Sneak a pocketsized lightweight dufflebag with a card into her suitcase from you. Or prepay one of the pubcrawls or tours.
As a mom, I'd love finding a note from one of my kids when unpacking. From my husband tho, I'd want euros in the card %^)
