Super confused by voltage converter/plug adapters

In my research, Italy uses the Type-L electrical sockets/plug with a voltage of 220-240v. Now reading my laptop/cellphone chargers I read Input: 100~240v, so I guess the device itself accepts voltage between 100-240v?? also does this mean I only need an adapter, but not a converter?

If I only need an adapter, I was thinking on getting this one, which comes with two USB inputs

And yes, I read the FAQs for this forum on the Electrical Adapters, but I'm still confused.

Thank you

If you travel with anything that is not dual or multi voltage - I have a small fan 110 only - then you would need a voltage adapter. Check the fine print on anything electrical you are taking.

We always travel with half a dozen adapters since we have the habit of leaving them here or there. I would simply not travel with a device that isn't dual voltage. The small voltage adapters are not very safe or good and are particularly ill advised for anything that heats like a curling iron or hair dryer. It has been easy for at least 30 years to get small cheap travel dryers with dual voltage. I had one that I paid 8 bucks for that I used for over 20 years.

The adapter/USB power supply you showed will work, but it is overkill for what you say you need. You already have USB power supplies (your laptop/cell phone power supplies). All you need are adapters - maybe only one if you don't have to charge everything every night. In fact, if your laptop has a USB port and you have a cable to connect your cellphone to a USB port, you can charge your phone from the laptop (that's what I do).

The adapter you showed us is a three-prong, grounding adapter, but most USB power supplies today are "double insulated" (square in a square symbol on specification plate), and don't need grounding.

Hey thanks...after talking with my wife we decided to buy these adapters, that way she can use one and I can use one :)

Maybe Roberto can answer this. Are all Italian receptacles 3-prong? Are older ones 2-prong?

Sometimes it help to explain your confusion so we can directly answer your concerns. The above just repeated what has been posted a hundred times.

esau,

The Plug Adaptors you linked in your last reply would be appropriate for a Laptop, especially if it has a three pin (grounded) plug. If the plug has a ground pin, I wouldn't recommend using the two pin models shown in the last reply.

It would help to know if you'll be travelling to other countries in Europe? The grounded Italy Plug Adaptors are specific to Italy, and will not work in other parts of Europe. With that in mind it would be prudent to pack along a coupe of the two pin adaptors as well.

We are only traveling to Italy. And I guess to be on the safe side, we are also buying these 2 pin adapters

We have bougt a couple of Italian USB chargers. Bought them in a supermarket, at around 8 euros per.
They plug into any italian wall socket, and they each have a pair of USB sockets.

Most Italian trains have 240 volt sockets at the seat. FrecciaRossa trains have free Wi Fi (mostly), FrecciaBianco, not so much.
