Will I need sunscreen during that period?
I live near Buffalo, NY and this time of year sunscreen is not necessary, but Italy being lower latitude I'm wondering.

The latitude of Rome is about the same as Chicago, or just a degree or so further south than Buffalo. It's not the latitude that is the issue, it's how much of the day you'll be outside. Yeah, everybody needs sunscreen, all the time.

At that time of the year you'll probably wear pants and long sleeves, so you just need some sunscreen for your face; a 3 oz. tube should be plenty for that.

Thanks everyone. I'll pack a tube of sunscreen.
I'd much rather need sunscreen than an umbrella!
