Last fall we traveled to Italy for two weeks, picking up a car in Rome and driving for 11 days before flying out of Palermo, Sicily. Almost the entire trip was in brilliant sunshine, which of course was wonderful. The only downside of beautiful sunny weather is driving through all the tunnels. Much of the road system -- and especially the Autostrade -- is tunnels. I was constantly having to put on/take off my sunglasses, and it was a real pain. I was wishing I had a pair of baseball-player flip shades. If I do another driving trip of Italy I will look into some kind of glasses that flip up and down.
