Sundays in Italy

I'm planning my third trip to Italy and I know Sundays can be a ghost town in certain places. Looking at my itinerary, I have planned my Sundays to be travel days except for one occasion which is unavoidable, but I do have a choice...either spend that day in Venice or Rome. Any pros or cons for either? Thanks!

Sunday's in Rome are not too bad. All the major sites are open. Your hotel should be able to answer any questions you may have.

Rome has a LOT to do on a Sunday. Other than the churches, almost everything seemed to be open when we were there last month.

Monday closures of museums seems to be more of a problem in Europe, in general, than Sunday closures.

I have been in Rome, Venice, Cortona, Orvieto, and Civita on Sundays and none of those were ghost towns on Sundays.
