Sunday, September 21, Trenitalia Strike!

We had planned to travel by train from Lucca to Vernazza on Sunday, September 21. Unfortunately, we just read of a likely Trenitalia strike from 9 PM on September 20 to 9 PM on September 21. From what we have found online, it appears that additional "essential" trains, which still run during a strike, only operate Monday to Saturday, and we cannot find a bus that travels from Lucca to Vernazza (or even to La Spezia). There is also only one Trenitalia train after 9 PM, and it doesn't get in to Vernazza until after 1:00 AM the next morning.

We need a transportation "Plan B" since our hotel reservations are already made in Vernazza and we were told that we will be charged for that night even if we can't get to Vernazza. Is anyone familiar with Sunday Trenitalia strikes, or does anyone have an idea for a "Plan B?" Thanks for any help you can give us!

Go back and edit your posting. This site does not like you to indent paragraphs which is what I think you have done. I use to do it all the time. If you indent the paragraph then the line break disappears and it is just one long line of text. An oddity of the system.

There is a high probability of no strike. Tends to have a lot of bluffs.

Thanks, Frank. I fixed it according to your suggestion. Also, thanks for the encouragement.
