Sunday or Monday in Florence?

We will be staying just outside of Siena at the start of June, for 5 nights, as part of a 15 day trip (Rome then Tuscany then Venice). We plan to use the time in Tuscany to tour the countryside and do wine tours. But we are going to do a day trip into Florence. I know - we can't do Florence justice in a day - but we have to make tradeoffs somewhere, so we're just going to spend 1 day in Florence.

It's looking like the days that would work best would be either a Sunday or Monday. So my question - is there a better day, considering things like museum hours, shop hours, etc? I'd hate to have things be closed on our one day in Florence. TIA!

So are you asking about one dayin Florence? Your title says Venice.

Your topic heading mentions Venice, but your post focuses on Florence. The bad news is that Sunday, Monday and Tuesday are the days when one or another sight is closed, or has limited hours. The RS Italy guidebook has a listing of what is closed on which days. I think Sunday might be your best bet, depending on what you want to see.

Putting together a brief stay in Florence is like working a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle. If you can switch the day to Saturday or Wednesday it will be a lot easier.

Ooops! Fixed that. I've got the RS guide, will take a look at major museums.
