Sunday at the Vatican

Hi. We are planning to go to the Vatican for the first time in early October. We will have all day on Sunday, but that's it. We are Catholic, so we'd like to attend Mass. I know we can see St. Peter's where the Mass will be held, but will we be able to see the Sistene Chapel or anything else at the Vatican, or will everything be closed? Thanks very much. This is our first time in Europe.

Everything else is closed except the church. Mass will either be behind the main alter or to the left as you face the main alter.

The official Vatican website, www.vatican.va, has St. Peter's Sunday mass times listed on the Info tab. If you plan to attend the Papal blessing at noon, you can also use the website to check the Pope's schedule. If the Pope isn't traveling or officiating at a mass, assume there will be a noon blessing.
