summer study abroad programs

After our vacation to Italy this summer, my daughter (high school age) wants to return to Europe to study this summer. She and I have been researching many different programs, and I was wondering if anyone on here is familiar with any. I know there are many options... language schools, and groups. I think I would feel more comfortable with her going with a group, but she has flown alone before and is very responsible. Has anyone ever sent their kids on a summer travel/study program? I would love some advice.
Thanks!!

Hi Sasha, Your daughter's high school guidance counselor should have information on language schools. Also on the main Graffiti Wall page under "latest hot topics" there's a heading for "foreign study programs" which will probably have all sorts of info for you...of course, you can't ask questions there though, only comments!

My son (17)attends a language/soccer camp in Germany every summer and this coming summer will be his fourth time. He loves it! He attends a school called Goethe Insitute and they also have a few sites here in the states. They have teen programs for language abroad for 1/2 day of language learning along with a 1/2 day of soccer, music, or excursions. He attended a camp in Cape Cod one summer and the camp in Germany was far less expensive than the one in Cape Cod even with airfare! Goethe also has a partnership with a University in Pennsylania and he receives college credit for his immersion class (3 weeks) and the college then sends a transcript to his high school which fulfills his high school foreign language requirements. He has met and retained many friendships with people from all over the world. I am not sure if you were talking about Italy or anywhere in Europe, but knowing that programs like this exist might help you to search for your language of choice. Good luck and PM me if you would like any additional info.
