Summer special tickets

We are going to be in Italy at the end of October. Although we have been to Italy before, this is the first time utilizing train travel. I'm trying to determine the best way to purchase tickets. I looked at both Trenitalia and Italio and for the trip we want to take on 10/25 from Milan to Venice, Italio shows a "summer special" rate of 9.90. Does anyone know anything about this rate? Thanks

I tried that. It brings up a screen that mentions Italo Extra but not summer special. Are they the same thing?

In Italian is says both Summer Special and “eXtra Magic” for that 9,90 fare. Click on the little “i” for more information. It is non-changeable and non-refundable. If you are OK with that it’s fine.

I would probably pay the extra 5€ for Prima class.

I just went to the Italo website and checked Milan central to Venice St Lucia for a random date in September. Selecting a train and followed Dario’s suggestion to click on the “I” for additional information. I believe that for any vertical column the left hand side indicates different fare classes with different restrictions. The lowest fare classes restrict you to that train and are non refundable. Going higher up has fewer restrictions.

Maybe you are focusing too much on the summer special description? Or perhaps the question is when does the summer special end?
