Hi, I’m traveling late Sept 25 into early Oct. Will be two weeks on a tour ending in Rome. I have a week to get myself to Milan for the flight back. I’m thinking of heading for Bologna, with quick trips to Modena and Parma, then to Cinque Terre, possibly Genova, then off to Milan.
Does anyone have any suggestions about lodging or activities along the way? Many thanks
Be sure to go to the Trenitalia website and map out all the journeys. If it is exactly 7 days, and the last night needs to be in Milan, then six could be tight. A week could be spent in either of your locations, so best to plan it all out before deciding.
More enjoyable timewise if you shave off Cinque Terre.
Yes, drop le Cinque Terre for this trip and enjoy staying in Bologna and taking day trips to Modena and Parma. I much preferred this area to the over crowded le Cinque Terre.
I so appreciate these replies. I had the feeling that I was trying to do too much in too short a time. Now, can anyone recommend a reasonably priced place to stay preferably with a small kitchen area? Thank you all!
Booking.com is a wonderful website to scope out your housing options.
FYI
There is a huge ceramics convention in Bologna -end of Sept/early October
Lodging will be limited and expensive so you’ll need to check those dates and get something booked ASAP
We stayed here on our second trip to Bologna:

I am pretty sure I booked it through booking.com. Check both sites and see which is the best deal.
