Planning to spend a few days in Sorrento, going there direct from Florence.
Are there any direct trains from Florence to Naples, or do you have to change in Rome?
Suggestions/tips on how to interpret the Italian train schedules? Are there several websites to look at, or just the trenitalia site?

RS has instructions somewhere on how to read train schedules. Also on the seat61.com site.
Direct trains are available from Firenze to Napoli, then the Circumvesuviana or bus to Sorrento.

they show many direct trains a day - this one departs Florence at 9:08am & arrives Naples at 12:00
