Does anyone have any suggestions on where to spend 1 or 2 nights in Bologna? We will be there the end of this month. Thanks!
We really like Bologna and think that it's worth at least 2 nights. We stayed at Albergo delle Drapperie.
We stayed at Drapperie as well. It has a great location. Do check out your room first, before accepting it. Our bathroom had a strong sewer gas smell, and the shower/tub was laid out strangely and difficult to use. But the staff were very helpful and the rates were reasonable.
Check out the Hotel Paradise, one of the friendliest hotels I have ever visited. They also do studios and small apartments with breakfast taken in the hotel itself. It is located about halfway between the railway station and Piazza Maggiore. http://www.hotelparadisebologna.com/facilities/index.php
I've stayed at the Hotel Porta San Mamolo. It is located opposite the city center from the train station, but is just outside the ZTL in case you are driving. They have a nice breakfast spread in their courtyard, and I was very pleased with this place. It is a very short walk to the Piazza Maggiore and Cathedral. You will like Bologna. http://www.hotel-portasanmamolo.it/
Thank you all for your suggestions! I have booked at Albergo delle Drapperie.
That's great Janet! The staff members were really helpful with making restaurant suggestions. The gave us printed sheet(s) with directions from the hotel to recommended restaurants. Our favorite was Ristorante da Cesari. You'll also find the morning markets right outside the door of the hotel. It really is a great location. Hope you enjoy visiting Bologna as much as we did!
