Suggestions on a day-trip tour from Bologna to Ferrari Musuem?

I understand there's an "easy" train from Florence to Bologna.

Is there a good andreputable tour from Bologna to the Ferrari museum (and maybe even the Lamborghini and Ducati factories/museums). I think I'd prefer to pay a little more and not navigate the train/bus/shuttle system on my own.

Extensive information on all things Bologna, including gearhead stuff plus day trips to food producers, from the official site:

Bologna is worth several nights on its own, especially for the abundant restaurants and its medieval buildings. Pressure from tourism is much lower than in Florence. The tourist office sells walking tours as well as day excursions.

Thank you. I have emailed that site for more info. I see that they have a tour available but now need to make sure it's on my date. This would require taking the train from Florence to Bologna early in the morning and returning to Florence late that evening (as we already have Florence lodging reserved). Does that seem feasible?

I have done it. It is and easy day trip. The Ferrari museum is a five minute walk from train station. I was not that impressed with the Ferrari 🏎 museum. Too much emphasis on the cars that stars drive which just does not dot it for me. I felt like I was reading a tabloid.

The cars however were fantastic and the engine room was a dream, but it just seems they could have done so much more.

maybe i'll give it a try. do you think i can take the train directly from florence (or are there connections) and then do i shuttle or just walk to the museum? i'm hoping to also take a test drive. your thoughts or opinions on this?

jkc, it sounds like you were only able to see the newer Ferrari wing in Modena, but the location at Maranello has more historical cars, if I recall correctly.

Freccia and Italo trains between Florence and Bologna make the trip in about 35 minutes. There are also some Intercity and Regional trains, but they run less often and take more time. You can sometimes buy Freccia and Italo tickets in advance at substantial discounts. Italo's discounted tickets tend to sell out more slowly than the Trenitalia Freccia tickets, but they run fewer trains. When I went from Florence to Bologna in October 2016, I was able to buy a discounted Italo ticket 2 days in advance while the Freccia discounted tickets for that day were sold out.
