I will be with a strenuous hiking group for 9 days in the Dolomites. While i can stay at the hotels with them, i don't want to be walking around all day until check-in at the next hotel. Can i get some suggestions of where you would stay for 2-3 days in either Cortina, Badia, La Val, or Selva? Thank you!
Hello Rosemary: I will also be visiting the Dolomites soon. I am torn between more expensive hotels and smaller pensions/inns. Staying at Airbnbs will be risky, as you pointed out, there is no way to store luggage between check-out and check-in of the next place. Have you considered staying at agriturismos?
You mentioned some good bases for exploring Santa Magdalena. Will you go hike around Tre Cime too? Where is a good base for this?
Let's compare notes. Have a great trip!!! BTW, when are you traveling?
Thank you, i'll look into agriturismos. Still looking at whether i'll stay with the group too, we'll be in the Dolomites starting Sept 9th so there is still time to look at hotels etc.
I would stay in the Val Gardena, either Ortisei, Selva or Santa Christina. There is plenty of shopping or even better you could take any number of lifts or gondolas up and do some easy walks and then take the lifts down. All 3 towns are connected by frequent bus service that will be free when your inn or hotel gives you passes.
