We are traveling from Florence to our hotel in San Gimignano and would love to stop along the way to see a winery and have lunch. Any suggestions on places to stop along the way? We are planning on taking SR222 as we have heard it is the more scenic route. We are going in late July so I know it will be busy and thinking we should make a reservation if needed. Thanks!
We love Ristoro di Lamole in the tiny village of Lamole near Greve in Chianti. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner. There is a winery down the road, Lamole di Lamole. If you make a reservation they do a wonderful wine tasting with a meat and cheese pairy. I also recommend reservations at the restaurant.
We have gone twice for the tour and lunch to Castello di Verrazzano. If we could, we would go again. LOVE IT!

Ristoro di Lamole was excellent during our visit there last month. We went with Grape Tours and our sommelier said that locals love to go there especially for the red onion “pudding” which was spectacular! A warm, firm dip that completely wowed all in our group. The Cavali family has a beautiful and popular winery close by called Tenuta Degli Dei that produces excellent wine. I bought a case haha! I’m sure both will require reservations.
