Suggestions for transportation to and from Amalfi

Hello,
We will visit Amalfi from Rome and from Amalfi to Naples. We have booked stay at Amalfi.
Would like to have some suggestions for choosing transportation. We would prefer to take train (maybe, not sure if the bus will be better) and less transfers with luggage.
Thanks!!

Ask your hotel the best and easiest way to get to their address. The Amalfi coastline is not somewhere you want to be physically hauling luggage up and down hillsides.

There is no train to Amalfi. There are trains to Sorrento and to Salerno. Month of year, number in party, budget? Do you mean Amalfi town or Amalfi Coast, just in case?

Thanks lnbsig!
We will be there in July (Tourist season)!
From Amalfi to Naples, I am thinking to use ferry from Amalfi to Salerno and train to Naples. Or from Amalfi to Sorrento and then to Naples?

That would be Salerno to Naples - Travelmar only goes as far west as Positano.

In 2006 we used Marcello's Car Service who picked us up from our hotel in Naples in the morning. They waited for 3 hours as we toured Pompeii by ourselves then took us to a wonderful place for lunch and on to our apartment in Positano. It was a total of 160 euro. Some of the best money I've ever spent.

On the return leg which was just supposed to be a one way from Positano to the Naples train station, Marcello picked us up himself early and stopped by the Stabiae Villa ruins which were incredible. We were the only visitors that week and it is a working archeological site

That car service turned out to be one of the best investments I've ever made in 50 years of travel

I would suggest that you take a Frecca Train from Rome to Salerno. Then walk a short distance from the train station to the docks to take a ferry to Amalfi. To get to Naples, ferry back to Salerno and take a train to Naples. This way you avoid the crowded buses.
