suggestions for splurge accomodations in Amalfi town

We are staying at Hotel Plaza in Salerno, Palazzo Januzzi in Sorrento- https://www.palazzojannuzzi.com/

They are having a flash sale. They are a Relais company, which we were very happy with one we stayed at in Bruges.

Now that we have settled on the hotel for Salerno and Sorento looking for a place to splurge in Amalfi town. Hotel, AirBnB, VBRO.
500e/night is our budget. A view of the water would be nice.

I like the LUNA CONVENTO. It's a historic building so there is a lot of variety in rooms; make sure to check the various options on their site.

At a higher price point the SANTA CATERINA is the classic luxe hotel in Amalfi.

The ANANTARA CONVENTO îș also fine, but it's a trek to the town from up there..

None of those are actually IN the town itself, but the first two are a short walk.

There are lots of chains with the word "Relais;" I don't know what you mean. The most famous are the Relais Chateaux properties..mostly 5-star luxe.

I think "relais" is just an old French word for "hotel". We have seen many hotels in various countries- especially France and Italy that include this word in their name. I don't think it's an actual chain or group at all.

The Palazzo Januzzi looks very nice but it is right on Piazza Tasso so expect it to be very noisy and busy- foot and car traffic. I would look for somewhere not so much in the thick of the action, etc.

We stayed at Diamond Suites this last trip- very nice, no bkft but there is a cafe right next door with delicious bkft and several other cafes nearby- it is set back off the main drag so very quiet/private. Our balcony at back of building had a little peek of a sea view. 5 min walk to Piazza Tasso and about 5 min to train station.

Another very nice hotel in Sorrento

Amalfi- we have enjoyed 2 stays at Hotel Bussola- beautiful rooms and common areas, balconies with sea views, on the water level so just steps from town, ferry, bus. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. The roof terrace bar is lovely- serves a fantastic spritz and really good apertivo snacks. Good bkft. We ate at their restaurant last month and liked it very much.

The first one is top location in the center of Amalfi, but the second has the best sea views, although it’s a bit out of Amalfi (maybe a mile from the town center, but the bus stop is in front). No idea what they charge nowadays, but it should be way less than 500€. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed at a hotel in Italy that was over 350€, if that. For 500€ I would want a bunch of Roman female slaves fanning me all night with a flabellum made out of a palm leaf.

If you go to GoogleMaps and zoom in Amalfi, you can see several hotels near the water. Just click on each hotel icon and see what the photos look like in terms of views and also check the reviews. Then if you like them, book on their website or on Booking.com

There are of course several that will be 5 star accommodations with great views of the sea. I don't stay in those places as the price is beyond what I'm willing to spend (and no Roman "ancillas" fanning you either), but I can tell you that 500€ for a room with a view is probably nowhere enough for a 5 star place in Amalfi. Maybe you might have some luck with 4 star hotels (if you travel outside of June-August).
