We’ll be staying in Varenna for 4 nights and plan to explore the town itself, as well as Bellagio and Nesso. Is there a countryside area around Varenna that’s good for biking or any peaceful picnic spots? Since we’re visiting in peak season (June), we’d love to find a quiet lakeside spot to relax away from the crowds.Suggestions for Peaceful Places Around Varenna?

Yes— Just go a couple miles up lake to the town of Bellano. There are beaches here and hiking trails into the nearby countryside

There's a hike up to the top of Varenna, to the Vezio Castle ruins, with 360 views, and I believe there is a small cafe. This is private property, so there's a small entrance fee.
Also, the gardens at Monastero, at the edge of Varenna, also with a small entrance fee.
Many Varenna hotels have lakeside cafes, where you can sit by the water with a glass of wine. Where are you staying? Hopefully Casa du Lac with have reopened by then. They had a great waterside courtyard.
